Challenge:

How deep in the dungeon can you get your character.

Rules:

Clean install of Mordor.
Create a dwarf with the minimum for each stat (i.e. 3 ,3 ,7 ,3 ,3 ,5)
You cannot buy or use anything from the [i] General Store [i] or from Boxes/Chests. With the exception of potions and tomes and SCROLLS found in the dungeon.
You cannot die.
You give yourself (through an editor or something) 1,000,000 gold.
1 character only.
You can level up in any guild.
No cheeting or editors at all (except for the initial 1,000,000 gold).
___

I hope this will be an interesting challenge. It's not too difficult. The money is very important. I've posted thurther down how to go about doing it.

The money is very important???

Well, first of all, what is the real point of having the gold if you can't buy anything or use items found in the dungeon?
Also, with those low stats, you would be unable to use tomes... (Not that you could if they were found in a chest...)
Plus, you would not be able to join any guild with minimum stats.
So really, I don't see much of a point in this... as you are likely to die within the first few rooms... huh.gif

Tomes and potions are an exception, you can use then provided you pick them up in the dungeon. You are probably right about the stats tho.

I said you can't buy anything from the general store. So the money is still important!!!

You need to think outside the box people. I think I know what he's getting at. You're allowed to sell to the store right? Personally I'd rather just play a mage.

so the gold is for realigning, but starting with that low of stats, i don't think the million will be an issue...you won't find enough potions to get to 10/10 to even use tomes before you die...and if you somehow manage to, the million isn't going to go very far imho

You're correct, that's not the way. There's another way which has nothing to do with potions and tomes. But i'm sure once you work out what i'm getting at potions of health etc will be useful.

This challenge just sounds like a more complicated and less fun Gnome Spelunk, no offence.

But I think I know what the gold is for. zombie.gif zombie.gif whip.gif

simply put.. the money is for lvling up. you could use 1 mil in just realigning a single tomb\potion. There is one thing about this challenge..

just keep repeating lvl 1 over and over untill you're max in stats... this challenge may take a while.

I don't understand that though, because if you can't use anything, you will have plenty of money to level up from selling items...so the 1,000,000 will end up being not necessary for levels..that would be enough gold for the first 42 levels in nomad, which is all you could be with those stats...

Ok here's the answer.

Seeing as you can't equip anything, you assume that when you enter the dungeon your dead. Wrong. as Ninja and Gutsy worked out you spend the money in the confinement getting yourself some companions. Campanions give you experience when they fight. So you can level up. I said that you can USE potions and tomes and you can SELL things. By selling potions and tomes you can double your money quite quickly and buy more companions. The potions that are useful aren't worth any gold anyway such as healing, curing, restenced etc. And sorry I didn't mention this (i've edited it now) but you can use scrolls aswell.

Ninja said that the monsters won't last long. It's true to an extent but there is a way, provided you have the money, to reset the level of binging and as as for them dying you can resurect them in the mourge (or if they're too big to carry then sad.gif ).

The confinement is limited but strangely after in one of the attempts I made, after some of my companions died I went back to get some more and found and enchanter which was excellent. So maybe as you level up the game puts new monsters in???

It's not an easy challenge but if it was then it wouldn't be a challenge, right? dntknw.gif

I have noticed my confinement fills up on it's own sometimes. I think the general store does too, but both with average items/companions.

Does anyone know how/why/when this happens?

QUOTE (The Helplesson (The City: Store))
When you sell an item to the store, it will be added to the inventory list and available for purchase by others.  However, other adventurers and explorers (the Morgue
rescuers need items, too!) may sometimes buy items from the store as well.  This can be a disadvantage if the item they purchase is the last of it’s type in stock -
especially if it's an item that your characters can use.  The advantage to this is that these individuals also sell the items they find on their explorations to the store as
well.  Because of this, it’s recommended that one check the store for any new inventory every once and awhile - you never know what you’ll find!

I can't tell you when, but this is the how and why.

I haven't done a formal study of it, but I'm pretty sure the Stores gain and/or lose items only in the first few levels of your first character(s). I've never once noticed a change in either store after my characters got established (Level 30, maybe?).

I think it "randomly" adds or removes an item every so often, even in later parts of the game. If it adds an item to something the store (or confinement) has already in 9 9 9 amounts, you wouldn't notice a thing. For item removal it should be more noticeable but I don't go out of my way to check every single entry to see if it goes down to 8 9 9 (or a permutation thereof). However my store is somehow buggy, Medusa Heads disappear each time I sell them, so it's more hypothesys than observation.
