Let's see... I know it was sometime around 96-97 I found the demo, all I can really remember is having a tendancy to go far beyond what I should have been exploring at my level, and dying a lot. Oh, and I used to think sword of the winds was the best weapon in the game, then only until a few years ago, heard that since it's 'shop equipment' it's completely useless against all monsters with weapon resistances.

Don't think I had any issues with equipment, but the first time I really started playing it I made a party of 4 members with no idea how to properly micromanage them.

Anyway, I just wanted to see how all of you came about playing this amazing game. What other games do you play or would recommend? What makes you love Mordor so much?

I play an ascii based game, TOME. Definitely worth checking out if you're into gameplay and not graphics necessarily. www.t-o-m-e.net

I also play WoW, Sins of a Solar Empire, AOE 2 & 3, and that's pretty much it for now.

Your turn, everyone! Who are ye, and what do ye play? hehe

Quaker0

found mordor on a 1000 game demo pack, had a lv 192 nomad but lost it before i found the full version, and due to computer problems, i'm stuck with the demo again. though like Exile 3:runined world, i think i had more fun with the demo blink.gif

if you like ascii games, ADOM (Ancient Dungeon of Mystery?) is massive and difficult

@fart: laugh.gif at aardmore. I'm surprised you found more of the potions than tomes. Was that your Giant character? If so, you may have purposefully avoided tomes of endurance dropping monsters?

couldn't tell you, I generally mowed everything but the weapon resistant creatures, and locked chests

well, i guess if they were more common, you'd be aardmore smile.gif

personally, i just don't remember seeing that many tomes of endurance, though i know where to get em, i generally found more really interesting potions then tomes

I'll do that just as soon as I get my con back to 11 (why are Endurance tomes so rare compared to other tomes and inevitably evil aligned? why why why!?!?), and accumulate some more cash.

think the endurance tones are so rare because excluding drainings, your con is the stat that will probably drop the most (via deaths)

think my best characters were a lv 193 nomad (on the demo version ok.gif ) ~60ish warrior and 40ish seeker

then a lv 150? warrior unknown nomad and probably about 40 seeker

my computer doesn't seem to like mordor very much, every time i make a decent character i lose it not_ok.gif

That was suggested a while back actually, in this thread.
Never say never, but I don't think there are going to be regeneration points in the dungeon, as it sounds abusable.

This is a pretty cool idea, IMO. Not sure about the trading and getting information part, but meeting named adventurers can be done.

(just guessing) could probably be setup like like a normal monster would and has x chance of appearing in certain random rooms (but only 1 per lv) maybe they could also join you for "exp" or for an escort back to town

iirc it's the damage modifier, i believe it's what mostly affect the damage a weapon can do but in the above case i don't think it'd do 1.3 times the base damage

For level 4, definately add the

iirc there's a spot on lv 3 they spawn quite frequently haven't played in a while but iirc it's

if that's the case then you should be able to check your library, it should confirm that you did in fact kill it

Oh and I dont have any ideas.. doesnt any game or abandonware site host a Mordor review?

home of the underdogs has a review iirc (think they gave it an 8.5 or something) from when they used to host mordor 1

These are good, but I don't think Gral mosquito would be suited for the list. They sure aren't common, but I have seen them occasionally in the lower left corner of level 3, near the Firagons.

hmm i remember playing around with the demo version of mordor and coming across then every ~2-3 trips to lv 3 but then again, playing the lv 3 demo make me spend most of my time on lv 3 anyway

also wouldn't that make playing with your friends a bit of a pain? (since, your all not going to be the exact same character and would advance at different speeds)

hmm only 350k "only" could see this being doable, in the demo i had a lv ~190 nomad (although he was ~60 in warrior) and only needed 20k exp to the next lv (compared to 90k for a warrior at that lv)

basically you can only be rocked via a teleportation spell, if you use a map editor to make a door enter rock you will be able to travel in the rock without the negative effects

so anyway you find a way into rock, as long as it isn't via spell, you won't be rocked (don't know if that includes past the level's bonudries)

my main curiousity killer generally starts with: "wonder where this chute goes?" "woo new stairs! (with barely any hp left)" "wonder how many more trips i'll have to make to get past all these nasty fish"

i like this idea, i personally feel that poison (and desease) become a just an very mild inconvince after your hp gets so high. Maybe monsters could have certain degrees of poison as well (so you don't wind up taking 150 because of giant spiders smile.gif )
