Hey, if you're willing, motivated and able to write it you could always do it yourself, you know. No need to join the team, seeing as your inclusion is all that would be necessary for the project to be a success it'd probably be better if you started over from scratch anyway...

korexus.

(Not on the dev team, far too busy with my own projects that I don't have time to finish. I just don't like seeing devs bashed for not doing something they offered to do in their spare time for free.)

This is my response exactly.

If anyone codes in C++ and/or VB6 then speak up. Our biggest problem for ages is that we created a lot of content that was never [fully] implemented into the game. Some of these additions are simple. For example, the map editor allows for assigning music to specific coordinates but doesn't yet allow for a random piece to be pulled from a list of several songs. We already have a handful of songs completed - they're just not fully implemented into the game. Other coding bits, such as multi-part monsters, are more complex and only partially implemented. The idea is simple: one monster has multiple appendages that you can attack (i.e. a head, multiple arms, and tail, etc) and each appendage has a different attack. The player would either finish off each appendage or would have to kill the 'core' of the monster to finish it off. The start is there but we need help to get to the finish line. Volunteers are welcome.

Background: I have lurked in and checked on the status of this project about once every 6 months for about 9 years now (iirc).

I'm a C++ programmer who would be interested in seeing this out the door.
I'd be interested in stepping up as a programmer for you guys if what you need is final feature work and bugfixing (barring if the codebase turns out to be a horrid mess or the final scope turns out to be way out of reach).

Though, I'd like to get a very important piece of information out first:
Is there a chance this project would monetize at all? If yes, I would be at risk at breaking a noncompete agreement and could not help.

If you need credentials or the sort, I'd prefer to provide that in email form or via a messenger service rather than forum messaging if possible.

I'm a team member but not one of the team leaders, so I can't answer all your questions, but I don't want you to feel like you're being ignored here. Things have been somewhat inactive lately on the board, so it might take a few days more for them to get back to you.

At the very least, I can assure you that the project won't become commercial, and that VB is more important than C++ at this stage. However, it's not too hard to work with VB if you're strong in C. The codebase is not a horrid mess and what is needed is indeed bugfixing and final feature work.

More than anything, I'd say we just need someone with the time and enthusiasm to just get the damn ball over the line. I hope they contact you soon. ok.gif

It's not that VB is hard. It's that I rather dislike VB. tongue.gif

Thank you for responding. Even having one person this fast is faster than I was expecting here. wink.gif

As Nudi said, no chance at all of going commercial with this project. We can't even if we wanted to, which we don't.

Your always someone i noticed when you are around though when i come to check on this project, whenever i see you make a post it reassures me that the Mordor XP project is still active.

I know it's hard to find much to post but I'm sure are others feel the same way.

Anyway i appreciate you folks still working on this, i can wait however long it takes. I also understand being short that one person.

i believe im a average visual basic 6 programmer, my latest is "baka.loader" a tiny flash player.
as im a wolf in programming i tend to have difficulty adding stuff to someone else code, as i tend to rewrite everything.
but i can be of assistance, with tips and hows and examples and so on. more brains can figure out problems faster.
so pm if you feel for it!

Come on Team. Get more "freaks" in the project to get it done.

What do you need to complete? More programmers or a project manager?

I would like to see this game done and relaesed in beta!

I've recently joined the project in the last month or so, and contributing as and when time allows [though i have a full time job and demanding family smile.gif ]

i'd suggest mailing braindead and Aardless - i've not seen crusher in a long while.
