3 years since an 'early beta' was announced. Let's move forward? Plenty of us can code, i'm sure, and plenty of us can make images for items and monsters. I'd like to play this eventually, instead it's just turning out to be major vaporware. Open source works fine for nethack. It won't break your project, it'll cause it to actually move forward.

This type of game would probably benefit anyway from a Stone Soup sort of approach like Crawl is using now. It'd be a better game, aside from that it might ever exist.

Stone Soup is pretty fun, thanks for reminding me about it. Been a while since I played around with that one =] And I think you're right, some community involvement may benefit MXP. The problem that I see with it though, is the size... MXP is much larger in scope and scale than Soup, and they are written in different languages IIRC.

Nonetheless, there are people out there who are not part of the development that could probably contribute some useful stuff =]
