I got a little problem. It said I should choose the Mordor Data directory. I searched the DATA directory, and when I choosed it I got a message: "Access violation at address 004A0581 in module 'Braindead's Editor.exe'. Read of address 00000000". And when I choose Map, its totally empty. what should i do? Oh and if I click Import map, then i cant find any maps anywhere ohmy.gif

The Import map option is used to import maps from .map files. You can't 'find' any maps unless you make (and export) them yourself, or if you receive a map from someone else.

The standard game maps should be read and loaded upon selecting the DATA directory though, and it seems something goes wrong there. The only suggestion I can offer is to try a 'clean' DATA directory to make sure you're not using a corrupted file. If that doesn't help the problem it's probably a problem with the editor itself (though it works fine for me).

Could be a pathing issue - try making sure Mordor is installed in C:\Mordor.

I suggest that you reinstall the game and the editor (don't forget to make backup files!!!!)

Need update of Braindead's Editor:

in Mordor 2 v.098

1. in new maps teleports not working - trouble in mdata11.mdr, i'm 100% sure, because if you take the original mdata11.mdr from mordor2 v.0.98 with 3 floors and add 4 and 5 floors taken from mdata11.mdr of mordor2 v.0.992 then teleports in them will not work, but if you use mdata11.mdr from mordor2 v.0.992 with 5 floors in mordor2 v.0.98 - teleports will work

2. in Editor i have not found a function for folding Misc.Object, as Journeyman's Key, Sacred Scroll of the Magi, etc...

Hello,

I have v1.7 downloaded and the file says "Last Modified: Friday, July 29, 2005, 11:01:20 PM"
However, here in this Wiki during ~2006 there are comments that the Editor displays certain dungeon squares incorrectly, is missing certain squares' attributes, etc. etc. Has this been addressed in v1.7?

http://mordor.uni.cc/Talk:Maps

"Even Level 1 is missing an anti-magic square, too. Braindead's Editor images are slighty different, they shouldn't be used."
"The map for Level 14 is missing a few walls and a secret door at 15,12. Level 5 is missing a Stud square in the western cluster of rooms. Level 8 is missing a stud square at 22, 12. There are probably other missing features I've overlooked. "
"Fixed all maps but level 11, by visually comparing with Braindead's editor and editing when necessary. Basically a few missing doors/anti-magic/stud. This is comprehensible if the original images where taken from someone's game. "

All above from April 2006

Hmm, my maps almost agree with Braindead editor: I don't have a stud square on 22,12;8 and I don't have a secret door at 15,12;14 (but perhaps my seeker isn't up to snuff rolleyes.gif ). Perhaps something wrong with row 12, if it's a bug in the editor. I used 1.7 to check this, BTW. I have a few of the older versions stored away on my puter. I think 1.4 was the one I liked most, not sure if it's still on the site.

Okay, I guess I am stupid, how, pray tell, can I capture the map(other than Snipping in Win 7, the pallete doesn't seem to be able to be changed in that scenario)? (I wish to print out maps, but wish to also change black to white and vice verse.)
