Let me know of any adjustments I can perhaps help with as far as descriptions go.

I will have a look, I wasn't aware of the contest. Can I simply type it up and post it? I am more than happy to help. Thanks for the prompt reply. And thanks for the welcome.

Yes, and nice contributions. You are not required to include the whole "Goblins are small monsters" etc etc, though. You can start with the part of the description that starts after "Additional information:".

Now I'm not putting you under any pressure or something, but please write some more of them. wink.gif

It's in a deep slumber, honestly, but I'm almost done with my nightmare of a thesis. I should have a few weeks of spare time after it's done and plan to finish off the graphics once it is.

Do you guys just lack a project leader, or did you choose the wrong engine way back when, or what has been the real issue here? Was it just lack of motivation? (Read: a good team/project leader) huh.gif

This project has been long in the making, and so this isn't the first time that none of us has had spare time to work on it. This is, however, the longest that we've all collectively been away from the project. I am positive that we haven't lost sight of the finish line after having put so much hard work and effort into developing this game already.

I used to be anxious about the development of this game as well until life caught up with me too. Thesis now. Hopefully that means when you all have time to complete it, I'll actually have time to play it! I'm still really looking forward to that day.

I still login to this site every now and then, in addition to posting when I have something to add. Due to the relative lack of activity these days, that is less frequent than it used to be.

Besides that, I am waiting patiently for the day I can finally play this thing. When at last the game is available to download, I will play it and, afterwards, provide all my relevant feedback. I am hoping for a release in the next few months or so. laugh.gif

At this point, I'm not even sure I will ever find the time (or will and patience unfortunately, I'm not exactly 20 anymore..) to play Mordor XP the way I played the original Mordor, but regardless this project will always have my support and admiration and will be here when it is finished to celebrate with you. Cheers!

My two cents:

Another anxiously waiting gamer roots for the dev team!

If you are all waiting for a time when you will have more free time to finish XP, it will probably never get done. Life goes on & most of us both players and developers will never have nearly as much free time as we did when we played this game. To get it done you will need to show some initiative. Of all the things you have accomplished in life so far, how big really is the remainder of the Mordor XP project? You probably just need one significant push and it will get done. There will never be an ideal time when you are all going to be like 'hey, now would be a good time to finish the project', so I would suggest to stop looking for it and just do it.

I hardly even do any gaming anymore, but when XP is finished I will definitely give it some attention

I can relate to what Shadowcat says. I'm a game dev hobbyist myself, and it's not really about finding time yet more about making time for the project; If things don't really continue now I guess this can mean a few things:

- The code isn't as clean as you want it to be, which makes it harder and harder to add stuff to it or really irritating to work with, which mostly leads to our little friend called procrastination.
- You don't have enough people to work on this project. This is however a point to watch out for; a oneman dev team obviously has its disadvantages, but make the team too big and you'll lose more time in management and communication than in actual work on the game.
- Complete loss of interest. (Although I find it hard to believe someone can just dismiss something that one has put a lot of work into)
- Life

So maybe, if it is true that progress is slower than it should be, it's time to pinpoint the cause(s) of that and fix those first. If the cause is indeed purely a loss of interest, consider handing the project to a new team and let them finish it.

But hey, all of this only relates to the idea that there is no progress in the game development, and this:

QUOTE (Crusher Junior @ Jul 4 2011, 07:55 AM)

Obviously means the team isn't intended on dropping this project, it really wants to see this finished, and we'll just have to be patient.

You'll continuously have my full support at any rate.

I agree 100%. In the immortal words of Winston Churchill, never give up! Never surrender! If you can't find the time to get this thing done, make time!

In other news, Duke Nukem Forever was released just this year.
