The "evil" Cloak of Night is available to all at the start of the game. It can be purchased for gold, but according to legend, will never be found in the depths below. And…

…it is not listed in the library. Can it be added?

Is “330 items” the true limit to the Library? Or, is it more?

Grog says the Cloak of Night can be listed, but it takes some effort. No mods or file shifting required. Just play the game. Will you take the challenge?

Note: Grog has never created or participated in a challenge, so he hopes all is cool with this one.

Hint: Lethal Gauntlets can also be added to the library.

Hint #2: You may have to spend some gold.

I don't have the game on this computer, but as I like riddles let me guess:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

At least that would explain why nobody found this out yet, as you would normally only do this by accident...

I assume the way you used "evil" is a clue as well, I hope someone will unravel this and post. And I hope someone can figure out how to realign it so I can give it to my thief, since my only grey elven robe got slimed by a trap my thief saw as a fear trap on lvl 13 last night mad.gif

Wow, not much of a challenge after all.

jan, you're right on! Thanks for encrypting your reply, so others can play around with the challenge if they wish to.

By the way, I have never discovered how to realign these items. Can it be done?

Use the trap-ID trick: hit 'n' x times to cycle through x characters before you open the trap; your thief will re-ID it each time he/she is reselected, allowing you much greater confidence that the ID is correct. That is, if you don't think it's a cheat to do so. wink.gif

I'd like to mention a separate Cloak of Night trick: there is a way to have more than one of any of the "unique" store-only items. It involves exploiting a bug in the game. Anyone remember it?

I've never heard of this. What's the bug? - or is this another challenge?

I don't know about bugs, but you can cheat using editors to have cloak of night that is the same alignment as your character... hypocrite.gif
but I never use it anyway...

It's under Cheats on Slimey's site -- "Character Duplication". Incidentally, the "Questing" cheat on that page is wrong -- it just seems like it works.

We should probably copy some of Slimey's info over, in case his site goes down forever.
