Comparing both threads, my tests back then (on Win XP in English, I believe) gave fairly different respawn timings from the OP. blink.gif Not sure if I can find the time to test them on this other computer, but it would be an interesting thing to do to double check it. I agree that period/comma for decimals can be a huge problem (I remember having problems even in Excel!), although sometimes it's the different version of support files (ocx, dll) that causes a problem.

I don't have much time, but, yeah, three floors of difference is correct, so the simplest solution is to make sure you have a new monster in each class at most 3 levels deeper, so that it can have companions. In M1, though, the max number of monsters is 400 and all slots are taken, so you can't add new ones to fill the holes, you need to reshuffle them instead.
The thread where you read what I fixed in the T'Mana mod is this one: http://dejenol.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3414 (all of mordor.uni.cc posts are available here, as far as I can tell)
I've ran afoul of the 3 letters search limit myself many times. You can't even search for Orc. sad.gif I'm sure Gaiacat, elro, and myself made posts about the unknowns in Wabbit's editor, but with the search jimped to four letters or more, finding them is... not easy.

Margoyles very often turn up at 10,3,1. The worst early quest is probably tengu, but the quest I had the most trouble with was actually Green Ooze (that rare variant of the clean-up).
Yeah, but now that I think of it, every time I was quested for them, Margoyles would just refuse to spawn at the obvious locations. dry.gif

How are you closing it? Try shutting it down normally (i.e. not "cut off power" or equivalent). And what virtual machine software are you using?

Yeah, WoD kills gargantuans instantly.

Well, besides the broken monster ID's there was an additional problem with higher level Indigini that we fixed. They have animal companions, but the companion type was erroneously set to indigini.

You seldom saw any T-indigini at all in the original version and when you did, it was always in strange groupings.

In the T-Mana mod all of the T-Indigini spawn with their proper companion groups and they also appear much more often, probably because of our fix.

See the discussion here: http://dejenol.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3810

edit: I said 'we' but of course it was entirely your discovery, my contribution to the mod was minor. You fixed more than you knew. wink.gif
Well, I did know that at some point in time, obviously, but it's been a few years now and I have forgotten too much from lack of practice. sad.gif I also learned a lot about other hobbies, for better or worse.

@MythrilZenith: all links are broken from the time we moved from mordor.uni.cc to dejenol.com. As you can imagine there are probably thousands of links in the discussions so I can't fix them all. But I should really sit down and fix at least the links in the forum pointing to the downloads section. XD I did fix the T'Mana mod link just now.

The T'Mana mod shouldn't change anything with respect to T'Laneas, as far as I'm aware. Gargantuans died fast!

For the record you can also buy Mordor 1 (download) from gamersgate.com, there may be some sale on it at some time or the other. And regarding installing virtual machines using VirtualBox, check out this thread

When you put this:

On the bright side, you have a fast way to the 10th floor smile.gif

What I find especially annoying here, is that there is this chute on 7 that takes you down to 10, but there isn't any chute at those same coordinates on 8 or 9... I mean it's supposed to be some kind of shaft, right ? I find it odd that chutes are more akin to teleporters than... well... chutes.

laugh.gif I have had the same thought for years! But Mordor is a world full of magic.

Skuldragl, no idea. Although I just realised a possible genesis of the name: skull with a drag in it. ;-)
Slimes are slimes and lycanthropes are their own monster class as well; indeed the fact there isn't a charm for every single monster class makes Soul Entrapment all the more useful for entomologists or whatever a monster collector would be called. wink.gif

Is there any way to use buffers without having to hold *shift* whilst doing so? Honestly, that would help me actually use them when I needed to slam down multiple buffered spells with the Buffer - N - Buffer - N trick.

Then again, actually hitting N instead of M would probably help, too blink.gif
It depends on your keyboard layout, for example on my belgian keyboard, numbers require Shift, and in-game I do not need to press shift for a buffer to fire off. There's a tool on microsoft site to see the layout of the various languages, so the idea is to find one that has the same letter positioning as your current keyboard, and at the same time, it shows special characters instead of numbers in the top row. Tool address: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb964651.aspx.
If you are on Vista or more recent, there is a custom keyboard layout creator, but I have never used it: http://windows.microsoft.com/fr-be/windows...keyboard-layout (that's the french page, unfortunately Microsoft's site picks up on my keyboard layout and always gives me the Belgian/French result rolleyes.gif)

I keep back-ups on at least two external HD, don't want to lose all that time and effort. OTOH I haven't played Mordor in ages, I wonder if it somehow equalises?

With the way swings work in M1, it's hard to find a good balance, but sounds good to me.

Cannot give guild-issued items !!!
If this answers your question not_ok.gif
But, as Nudi said you can have multiple copies of a given guild crest: each character that beats the current guildmaster level can have one, and the old one isn't removed from the demoted (or used-to-be) guildmaster...

Maybe you're mixing up two races here? Elves can join every magic guild..

You're right, I should have specified good elves. Or non-neutral elves, to be more precise. And I have very little experience with Sorcs, which on paper require(d) too much fiddling with finding the right spell for a given monster (IMHO). Had I known beforehand that Electric Field (well, electric spells in general) was resisted by about the same number of monsters as WoD, I'd have actually played the guild. :-S

I'm also recording the entirety of this run on youtube channel, if that interests anyone. So here's a link to the Holy Crusade! playlist if you want to check it out.

Whoa! Craziest idea of the year! In a cool kind of way. ;-)

Does anyone have any particular tips and tricks to playing an Elf (or just solo character in general) that I should worry about? I'm building it as a Legacy character and following the Optimal Leveling Route. Heck, the first few videos might even be used as a video guide for "how to use the somewhat confusing Optimal Leveling Route for Mordor: Depths of Dejenol."

Any items I should look out for? Any horror stories? I kind of just want to figure out if solo-elf is even viable.
Well, I don't know for sure but I sort of doubt you can win with a solo Elf without a Cap of Death or similar? Might be an interesting challenge idea: win with a solo Elf using the weakest spell casting item you can manage.
I remember AJ (Raffles) used to have a solo Osiri, level, what, 400-500 (?) in both Thief and Healer, so we know it's possible to solo with appropriate blasting power, but as said Elves have access to fairly poor spells (and thieving skill... And fighting skill... Man, they're next to worthless :-S )
Anyway good luck, let us know how that turns out.

Is it possible to use the keypad for movement (2468) and also use buffer spells on 13579? I probably should've used that technique but I was already expert at my inefficient method. smile.gif
